DDT Levels

Share

* The Times reports that 32 families in Torrance have been relocated into rental dwellings to remove them from contact with DDT in soil under their homes (June 8). The DDT presumably came from the factory in Torrance. The workers in this factory, who had been employed for nine to 19 years, were examined by a team of U.S. Public Health Service physicians in 1967, and no abnormalities were found. The workers had an intake of DDT about 440 times as high as in the general population. Hopefully, the relocated people will be unharmed.
