Philip Morris Cos. earnings climbed 14.4% in the second quarter, fueled by strong worldwide growth in its industry-leading tobacco business. Total revenue was up 4.4%. The maker of Marlboro, the world’s best-selling cigarette brand, said its worldwide Kraft food and Miller beer businesses also posted higher quarterly profits.
Domestic tobacco earnings rose 10.8% and revenue advanced 2.5%.
