Westside : Galanter Changes Mind, Accepts Automatic Pay Raise
After declining to accept an annual raise, which is automatically granted by City Charter, for the past two years, Los Angeles Councilwoman Ruth Galanter recently decided to move higher in the tax bracket department.
Last year, Galanter was one of several council members who declined the pay increases, which are tied by city regulations to the compensation of municipal judges.
The councilwoman’s annual salary will now become $98,069--an increase of 8% from her City Council wages of two years ago.
No word from the councilwoman at press time regarding her thoughts on her new pay.
