It’s Your Life / People, Places and Things to do. : Folk Duo to Briefly Bring Back Good Old Days

Share

They haven’t played in years, but Matt & Bill will hold a brief reunion Friday night at Two West Coffee Company in Ventura. For the uninitiated, that’s Matt Schulte, formerly of Crashing Plains, and Bill Coffey, formerly of the Mudheads.

In the good ol’ days, Ventura locals could go to Charlie’s every Monday at 6 p.m., long before the venue turned into the tourist trap Pineapples, and see Matt & Bill do some Everly Brothers harmonizing and awe-inspiring acoustic folk, mostly originals and covers such as “Atlantic City” by Bruce Springsteen.

Then about two years ago, Coffey moved to Boise, and Schulte moved to Portland. But Coffey recently relocated to Oxnard, and Schulte will be visiting for a few days, enough time for this free gig at Two West.
