Girl Scouts Council Names New Director

The Tres Condados Girl Scouts Council has appointed a new executive director.

Cynder Sinclair takes over the chapter, which serves Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Sinclair comes to the local chapter from Stockton, where she was the executive director of the San Joaquin County Child Abuse Prevention Council.

Sinclair said she sees the Girl Scouts as a way to help prevent abuse.

“I have often said that the best way to keep children safe is to give them positive activities,” she said. “The Scouts have many great programs that help a girl’s sense of well-being, self-esteem, family and community.”

Sinclair said she will continue the chapter’s effort to bring those programs to more members of the community by reaching out to those girls who might not traditionally join the Girl Scouts.

Sinclair, who was a Girl Scout in her younger days, has five children and seven grandchildren. She is working on her master’s degree in organizational development through the University of San Francisco.
