Share

Four Sylmar Elementary School students on Sunday will begin attending workshops at Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, thanks to a scholarship program for children in areas prone to gangs and crime.

Aika Ametu, Militza Cummings, Diego Martinez and Rigoberto Tolentino will visit the 205-acre Idyllwild campus, located in the San Jacinto Mountains above Palm Springs, until Aug. 8.

The two-week educational workshops are on art, music and drama.

A total of 26 students were awarded scholarships to attend the arts school. They were chosen through L.A.’s Best, a partnership of public and private agencies that provides after-school activities for children in areas prone to gangs, drugs and crime.
