Coyote Captured in Griffith Park May Be One That Attacked Child

A coyote was captured by trackers over the weekend in Griffith Park near where a toddler was attacked last week.

Park rangers, who posted “Keep away from coyotes” flyers on trees and poles in the park, said the animal was placed in the custody of county health officials Saturday to determine whether it is the one responsible for the attack.

A 15-month-old girl from Nevada suffered several puncture wounds on her thigh Thursday afternoon when a coyote attacked her near the park’s merry-go-round and tennis courts. The coyote released the child when the girl’s mother ran to the rescue.
