BUENA PARK : Council Agrees to Add Light on Speedy Street

Share

Traffic along Los Altos Drive won’t be screeching to a halt, as some residents had hoped, but it might be slowing down.

Many people in the neighborhood, which has become a popular shortcut for motorists heading to the K mart store on Lincoln Avenue, wanted the city to close the street altogether or at least put up so many stop signs that drivers would lose patience and find other routes.

The City Council has approved a new traffic signal to be installed on Valley View Street in August to divert cars right or left from Los Feliz Drive instead of straight through to the new Lucky supermarket on Valley View.

A traffic consultant also suggested painting stripes on Los Altos Drive to make it appear to be narrower and thus less prone to fast drivers.

The council will take up the issue again on Aug. 21.
