VENTURA : CSUN Doubles Size of Satellite Campus
To accommodate the growing number of students seeking to attend classes at the Ventura campus of Cal State Northridge, university officials have doubled the size of the Alessandro Drive facility.
CSUN has rented the entire first floor of the building in which it has operated since 1988--increasing its space to 30,000 square feet, said Joyce Kennedy, director of the Ventura campus.
The university also has agreed to spend up to $250,000 on improvements at the site--including renovating an adjacent parking lot, which will increase the number of spaces by 100, Kennedy said.
The newly rented space will be used to add five classrooms, widen existing classrooms and expand the student lounge, Kennedy said.
The satellite campus came to Ventura in 1974 and was first situated in a 6,000-square-foot facility on Maple Street.
When enrollment increased, the campus moved to the Alessandro Drive building, Kennedy said.
