McCarthy’s Restaurant, Petrucci’s Ristorante Italiano, and Giovanni’s Restaurant of Camarillo. La Trattoria Italian Restaurant and Rosarita Beach Cafe of Ventura. And Yasmeen’s and the Kona Ranch Steak House of Oxnard.

They are among the 37 restaurants scheduled to participate in “A Taste of Camarillo,” Sunday at the Adolfo Camarillo Home. The eighth annual event is a benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of Camarillo.

In addition to the food, more than 40 wineries are expected to bring some samplings of their merchandise. Among them are Fetzer Vineyards, Zaca Mesa Winery, Firestone Vineyard, Schramsberg Vineyards, and Kendall-Jackson Vineyards.

The food and wine festival will begin at 1 p.m., with a wine auction at 2 p.m. Today is the deadline for $35 advance tickets. Admission will be $40 at the door. Call 482-8113. The Camarillo House is at 3771 Mission Oaks Blvd.

Restaurateur Francois Zanni Jr. will host the second Gourmet Wine Dinner of the year, Monday, at his Le Rendez-Vous Restaurant in Newbury Park. The evening will feature wines from Sonoma County’s Ferrari-Carano Winery.

The five-course meal will open with a chicken mousse served with the 1994 Sonoma County Fume Blanc, followed by a fresh filet of halibut with herbs and the 1993 Alexander Valley Chardonnay. The third course will feature duck salad with raspberry and the 1992 Sonoma County Merlot. The entree will be filet mignon of lamb with the 1991 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. Dessert will be chocolate cake with walnuts.

Zanni has plans to continue the winemakers gatherings, providing customer response remains positive. Monday’s dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $60. Call 498-1019. The restaurant is located at 1281 Newbury Road.

For more food and drink, Ventura Harbor’s Santa Ynez Winery Tasting Room will present a Santa Maria-style “Mid Summer Barbecue” Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. The fare will include appetizers, salads, baked beans, tri-tip, chicken and desserts, all washed down with a sampling of wines. Cost is $25 plus tax. Call 644-WINE for reservations. The tasting room is located at 1591 Spinnaker Drive.
