Mild-Mannered Bank Robber Gets Away With $500

Share

A mild-mannered bandit strolled into a bank Monday, slipped a note to a teller and then escaped with hundreds of dollars before anyone else noticed that a stickup had occurred, police said.

The robbery took place at 9:15 a.m. at the Great Western Bank in the 16100 block of Beach Boulevard, Police Lt. Luis Ochoa said.

“He walked out the west door with $500,” Ochoa said. “No weapons were involved. It was all very low-key.”

Police said the robber--described as a white man in his 50s with a mustache, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 170 pounds--resembled a man who pulled another heist July 24 at a Wells Fargo Bank in Mission Viejo.

In the earlier robbery, a man in his 50s also passed a note to a teller demanding cash, according to investigators.
