A little over a mile from the site of a neighborhood march against crime Tuesday night, one teen-ager was fatally shot and another critically wounded, authorities said.

Responding to reports of gunshots in the 14600 block of Saticoy Street, paramedics found the teen-ager dead of a bullet wound in the head in a parking lot about 8:08 p.m., Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

Wounded at his side was another youth, about 16 years old. He was in critical condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds, Humphrey said. The teen-agers’ identities were not immediately known.

The Panorama City West Neighborhood Assn. had met at the Panorama City mall a few blocks north of the shooting scene an hour earlier to march through the area as part of the annual National Night Out Against Crime, but police said the marchers were not nearby at the time of the shooting.

Police said they had no immediate suspects.
