Renaldo Turnbull, the New Orleans Saints’ Pro Bowl linebacker who was shifted to defensive end this year, has a torn biceps tendon and needs surgery to repair it, Coach Jim Mora said Wednesday.

“How long he’ll be out depends on how bad it is when they go in and look,” Mora said.

Terry Habig, the team doctor, told Mora the tendon is torn, but until surgery is performed there is no way to tell how badly. If it is completely detached from the bone, Turnbull will be sidelined from six to 10 weeks, Mora said.

Green Bay Packer offensive tackle Paul Hutchins might be lost for the season because of a back injury. The third-year pro was expected to start at right tackle, but has a herniated disk.
