Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West Show came to Santa Ana in 1904, setting up in a field beside 1st Street.
Cody amazed spectators by shattering plaster balls thrown into the air. But the audience did not know Bill’s secret: The ammunition he used was birdshot, which covered an area at least two feet in diameter.
