Helping Residents of Mobile Homes

Share

* There were two letters (“Mobile Home Rents Can Be Too Much,” July 30) regarding the statewide mobile home rent initiative. In discussing that issue, these letter writers made references to the Orange County Mobile Home Rental Assistance Program, which I administer. One states that “Ten people in Huntington Beach applied and nobody was helped. People from my park and every park in Orange have applied and none of these people have been helped.” I dispute every one of these claims. There are people in Huntington Beach, Orange and the writer’s park in Stanton who are receiving real subsidies from our program. Perhaps those who are receiving a subsidy are not interested in sharing that information with the world.

This program is privately sponsored and paid for. There is no pay-back required and no lien is placed on the recipient’s property!

I am proud of our program. We have made a difference in the lives of hundreds of low-income park residents, and we will continue to do so, despite the misinformation being circulated by our detractors.
