Bones Found in Angeles Forest

A hiker on Saturday discovered what sheriff’s homicide investigators believe are human skeletal remains, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

The hiker spotted a cluster of bones about 4 p.m. while walking near Mile Marker 14 on Little Tujunga Canyon Road north of Sunland, said Sgt. Richard Dinsmoor of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Dinsmoor said Saturday night that investigators and coroner’s officials were collecting the bones and inspecting the scene. But he said it probably would take some time to confirm they are human, and to determine the sex of the victim and cause of death.
