NLRB Files Complaint Against Daily News: The National Labor Relations Board’s complaint accuses the Woodland Hills-based Los Angeles Daily News of freezing employees’ wages without the consent of their union. The complaint, filed July 31, alleges that the Daily News has “unilaterally implemented a wage freeze, including unilaterally discontinuing merit increases, without bargaining.” Byron Kohn, NLRB acting regional director, said the group’s investigation found that the Daily News management had improperly ended “an established practice” of granting annual wage increases based on employee performance. Officials at the Daily News were not available for comment.
