Santa Paula OKs Budget

The Santa Paula City Council on Monday unanimously approved a 1995-96 budget that is $1 million less than last year’s.
The $12.2-million budget was approved after a two-hour study session held before the council’s regular meeting.
Although the budget included $175,000 to be used to hire five new paid volunteer firefighters, it did not include funds to increase the number of 911 dispatchers for the Santa Paula Police Department.
And although a cost-of-living adjustment is due in September, the budget did not include a pay raise for city employees.
The council also approved a tentative budget of $11.6 million for 1996-97.
