OXNARD : Suspect in 5 Robberies Strikes Bank Branch

Share

A man suspected of robbing four banks in Ventura County this summer struck again Tuesday, robbing a Bank of America branch in Oxnard, authorities said.

Based on a physical description and his technique of handing a teller a note demanding money, “this is the same guy who has robbed four other times in Ventura County and once in Santa Barbara,” FBI Agent Larry Dick said.

The latest robbery occurred at 3:30 p.m. at a Bank of America branch at 1855 N. Oxnard Blvd. The robber, wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap, handed a teller a note indicating that he was armed and demanding money, Dick said.

After receiving the money, the robber fled in a car, said Dick, who did not disclose the amount of money taken or the make of the getaway vehicle.

In two of the six robberies, the suspect fled in a taxi, Dick said. No one was injured in any of the robberies, he said.

The past Ventura County robberies linked to the suspect are Bank of America, 1130 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura, on July 3; California Federal Bank, 430 Arneill Road, Camarillo, on July 11; Bank of America, 507 E. Main St., Ventura, on July 13, and Bank of America, 1307 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, on July 25.

The robber is described as a white man between the ages of 38 and 42, about 6 feet tall and weighing 220 pounds. He has short brown hair.
