Nymex Seeks to Buy Coffee, Cocoa Exchange: The New York Mercantile Exchange, in a move that could keep all of New York’s futures exchanges under one roof, said it offered to buy the Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange for about $38 million. The Nymex, which bought the Commodity Exchange last year, also plans to initiate separate merger talks with the New York Cotton Exchange in the future, a Nymex spokeswoman said. According to the plan, the CSCE would become a wholly owned unit of the Nymex in a transaction similar to its $62-million acquisition of the Comex last year. A CSCE spokeswoman declined to comment.
