Resisting Arrest

* Re “Party-Goers Win $15.9 Million in Suit Over Melee,” Aug. 8:

When will we stop paying millions of dollars to persons who resist arrest? I was taught as a very young boy that if an officer of the law ordered you to stop, halt, cease what you are doing, to say, “Yes, sir!” You never hear of anyone who does that being abused by the police. Had Rodney King put his hands on the hood of the car, as did the others with him in that incident, he would not have been beaten and also it would have saved the taxpayers a ton of money.

Please, parents, teach your children a little respect and to say, “Yes, sir!”
