The Laguna Art Museum netted an estimated $10,000 with an advance benefit screening Sunday of director-author-artist Clive Barker’s new supernatural horror film “Lord of Illusions.” The proceeds will benefit programs at the museum, which is showing Barker’s artworks at its satellite gallery in the South Coast Plaza mall in Costa Mesa through Oct. 8. The film is slated to open nationwide Aug. 25. In other news, the museum has received $10,000 from the Irvine Foundation to match a state Arts Council grant to hire a bilingual outreach coordinator. The Spanish/English coordinator, whom museum officials hope to hire next month, will double the staff of the museum’s educational department.
