Paula Denise Ward; X-Ray Technician

Paula Denise Ward, a lifelong Ventura County resident, has died after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was 54.

Ward was born Feb. 15, 1941, at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard. She attended Santa Clara grammar and high school. After graduating from high school in 1958, Ward attended Ventura College. She was then accepted into the radiology program at St. John’s Hospital and became the program’s first graduate. Ward was employed in the X-ray field for 33 years. She spent the last 22 years working as an X-ray technician at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital.

Ward died Saturday surrounded by her family, friends and co-workers.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ward Murray of Ventura; her parents, Carl and Dorothy Ward of Oxnard; her brothers, Carl and Tom Ward of Ventura County; her sisters, Terry Jung of Boise, Ida., and Julie Veley of Ventura County, and her grandchildren, Brianna and Zachary Murray of Ventura.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital or the City of Hope, 1500 E. Duarte Road, Duarte, Calif. 91010.
