Valleywide : City Council to Meet in Woodland Hills

Share

To the delight of Councilwoman Laura Chick, a special meeting of the Los Angeles City Council will be held in Woodland Hills on Oct. 17.

Chick, who represents parts of the western San Fernando Valley, earlier this year recommended that the council hold a meeting in the Valley as a way to make city government more accessible to local residents.

Such ideas are not always greeted warmly by other council members or their constituents. Critics say meetings outside City Hall present logistic problems with transportation, broadcast equipment and other areas, yet attract few residents.

Nevertheless, the council Tuesday set the Oct. 17 meeting for 10 a.m. at Pierce College.

“By holding more meetings in the community more citizens will see the value of rolling up their sleeves and participating hand-in-hand with government to find and implement real solutions to real problems,” Chick said.
