SIMI VALLEY : Police Issue Alert for Fake $100 Bills

Share

Several counterfeit $100 bills have been passed to Simi Valley merchants this week, so authorities are warning all businesses to be cautious about accepting $100 bills.

Simi Valley police declined to disclose how many bills have been passed or how many merchants have accepted them.

The fake bills may not be detectable by counterfeit money detector devices used by merchants, Simi Valley police said.

However, the bills all carry three indicators that will allow people to identify them as counterfeit, police said: On the front upper left corner is the marking “G3;” on the front lower left corner is “G209;” and on the back right side is “65.”

Police are asking any merchant who receives a $100 bill with those three markings to make note of the person passing the bill. The suspects have shown no signs of violence, police said.

Anyone receiving a counterfeit bill should call Simi Valley Police Detective Steve Delamater at 583-6950.
