Arbitrators Reach New Postal Contract
A federal arbitration board announced a new four-year contract Saturday between the Postal Service and a letter carriers union, providing pay raises, lump sum payments and cost-of-living adjustments.
The arbitrators’ settlement took nine months to achieve and followed months of bargaining.
The contract with the National Assn. of Letter Carriers affects 240,000 employees.
The decision provides 1.2% raises in the second and fourth years of the contract, lump sum payments of $950 and $400 in the first and third years, and cost-of-living adjustments beginning in the second.
