Moorpark : Parent Class Coupled With Child Care

Share

Finding quality, affordable child care has always been a challenge, but in Moorpark, parents merely have to enroll in a class.

The Adult Education Preschool Program meets twice a month to teach good parenting, but provides care two or three days a week for children ages 3 and 4.

“We’ve had the class in Moorpark for at least 15 to 20 years,” said Vishna Herrity, the program’s district coordinator. “It’s quite popular. I’m surprised that there are people out there that are still unaware of it.”

For $80 per quarter, a parent of a 3-year-old child will get two days of child care per week and will be asked to volunteer in the classroom once a week. Parents with little extra time can forgo the volunteer work and pay $95 a quarter.

Preschool classes for the 4-year-old students are held three times a week and cost $125 per quarter for parents who volunteer once a week and $145 for those who don’t.

Spaces are still available in four classes, Herrity said, but they are filling up fast. For more information, call 531-6464.
