Man Fatally Shot in Alleged Gang Rivalry
A 20-year-old Santa Ana man was fatally shot in the head by rival gang members who then fled, Police Sgt. Dick Faust said Monday.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired at Chestnut Avenue and Oak Street at 11:24 p.m. Sunday, arriving to find Eduardo Santamaria Romero dead on the sidewalk.
Witnesses said Romero had been approached by rival gang members who opened fire. Residents heard a car leaving the area, but no one was able to provide a description of the vehicle, Faust said.
The gang unit is investigating the slaying, Faust said.
