Los Angeles City Councilman Michael Feuer is inviting 5th District residents and business people to a Valley Town Hall meeting at his Sherman Oaks district office Sunday.

Feuer and his staff members will discuss a number of community issues, including proposed changes to the Sherman Oaks Galleria, parking shortages in Studio City, the establishment of police substations, earthquake recovery, the Woodman-Ventura project and emergency preparedness.

There will also be information--through booths and presentations--provided by the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, city Building and Safety Department, parking enforcement division, street lighting division and street maintenance division.

The meeting, scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at 14310 Ventura Blvd., will be the first in a series of public forums that Feuer is planning in the Valley and Westside.

Sherman Oaks community leaders said they were happy that Feuer is putting on the public forum, which they see as an opportunity for people to get to know their councilman.

“It makes him real accessible,” said Barry Wegman, president of the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce. Wegman said earthquake recovery continues to be a concern for business people, who still need financial help to repair their properties and improve their businesses.

Richard Close, president of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn., said, “It’s more than an opportunity to shake hands--it’s an opportunity to solve problems.”
