A 19-year-old man was shot in the shoulder with an assault rifle after getting into an argument with another man at a party early Saturday, police said.

Marsielles Beau Chrispin of Huntington Beach was taken to UCI Medical Center for treatment shortly after the shooting, which occurred just after midnight. He suffered minor injuries, said Sgt. Tom Arnold.

Police said that Chrispin and two of his friends had driven up to a group of people who were partying in the front yard of a home in the area of Nashville and Huntington streets. The three, who were still inside their car, had been at the scene for only a few minutes when an argument erupted between Chrispin and a man at the party.

“The suspect walked away from the vehicle Chrispin and his friends were in and returned carrying a rifle,” Arnold said. “Chrispin and his friends observed the rifle and tried to speed away.”

The gunman fired three rounds from an AK-47 rifle at the vehicle, one of which hit Chrispin in the shoulder.

Police have recovered the rifle, but the shooter, who has not been identified, remains at large.
