Trainer Bobby Frankel will try for a weekend sweep at Arlington International when Tinners Way goes in the 15th Arlington Million today.

Two weeks after winning the Pacific Classic, Tinners Way will try grass for the first time since 1993 and will also try to become the first horse to win two $1 million races in the same month. He drew the rail in the field of 11 and will be trying for his fourth victory on grass in his 10th turf start.

On Saturday, Possibly Perfect provided Frankel with a victory in Beverly D Stakes at Arlington. Corey Nakatani, who rode Possibly Perfect, will try for a sweep of his own today in the Arlington Million on Sandpit, who will be seeking his third consecutive victory. He won the Caesars International Handicap at Atlantic City, N.J., and Caesars Palace Turf Handicap at Hollywood Park, earning a $712,000 bonus in the process.

The remainder of the field for the Million, which is run at 1 1/4 miles, includes Johann Quatz, Lassigny, Kiri’s Clown, Kaldouneeves, Manilaman, Awad, Northern Spur, Prince Of Andros and The Vid.

Unbeaten in two starts against California-breds, Molistar is the 5-2 favorite against 11 other 2-year-old fillies in the $250,000 Del Mar Debutante today.

Supplemented to the race for $10,000, as were four other entrants, Molistar came from last to break her maiden her first time out, then was a four-length winner of the California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Assn. Stakes early in the meeting.

With Nakatani riding in Chicago, Laffit Pincay will be aboard Molistar, a daughter of Prized, for the first time for trainer and part owner Robert Marshall.

Though perfect in three tries for owners Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walter, Batroyale is the 3-1 second choice.

Not getting any respect from morning line-maker Jeff Tufts is Raw Gold, who was unbeaten in two starts at Hollywood Park, including a victory by three-quarters of a length in the Landaluce.

The daughter of Rahy is 10-1, and she seems particularly vulnerable at the seven-furlong distance of the Debutante.

Besides Molistar, the other supplementary entrants are Proud Dixie, Proper Dance, Batroyale and Hidden Lake.

Taking advantage of a dream trip, Marina Park held off Just Tops to win the $107,500 Osunitas Handicap by a nose Saturday.

Saving ground throughout under Gary Stevens while just off the pace being set by Sunlit Silence, Marina Park, a 4-1 shot in the field of 10 fillies and mares, came off the rail entering the stretch, got the lead and won in 1:42 3/5 for the 1 1/16 miles on turf.

Trained by Ian Jory, Marina Park, a 5-year-old English-bred mare, has eight victories in 31 starts. Losing for only the second time in five starts on the Del Mar turf, Just Tops finished a length ahead of Sunlit Silence and Late Sailing, the 5-2 favorite, was fourth.
