Mother of Actress Mamie Van Doren Dies of Cancer

The mother of former sex symbol Mamie Van Doren, who was known as one of the “Three Ms” in the 1950s with Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, has died at her daughter’s home.

Lucille Harriet Bennett Olander was 82. She died Sunday of cancer, her daughter said.

Mrs. Olander was married to Warner Olander for 62 years until his death in 1992.

“She was always there for me,” said Van Doren, 62, the star of movies including “Teacher’s Pet” with Clark Gable. “My parents gave me a lot of strength. I was very close to them, unlike Marilyn or Jayne.”

Mrs. Olander also is survived by two sisters. Private services are today at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. Donations can be made in her name to any cancer organization, Van Doren said.
