San Gabriel Valley : FAMILY MATTERS
In tiny Bradbury, government is becoming a family business.
City Treasurer Richard Mandroian’s wife, Jan T. Mandroian, was sworn in Tuesday as a replacement for a retiring councilwoman.
No politicians are charging nepotism, though, since the appointment was made by the City Council itself.
A substitute teacher, Mandroian will serve out the term left vacant by the retirement of District 4 Councilwoman Audrey Chamberlain. The seat, subject to election in April, 1996, represents about 120 of Bradbury’s 500 voters.
“It might appear our marriage is a conflict, but it isn’t because his position is volunteer and unpaid,” Jan Mandroian said. “He just checks the balances.”
