A man swimming in the Merced River at Yosemite National Park died after being swept over a 594-foot waterfall, park officials said Monday.

Rescue workers found the body of Daniel L. Kahler, 30, of San Diego near the base of Nevada Falls on Sunday evening, about three hours after he was caught in a current above the falls.

Kahler is the second person to die in Nevada Falls in three weeks, the National Park Service said. The area is posted with signs warning against swimming.
