VENTURA : Santa Paula Man, 18, Stabbed in Fight

A Santa Paula man was in stable condition at a Ventura hospital after he was stabbed during a fight in the Ventura River bottom.

Bryce Marschall, 18, was with friends in the river bottom, near the 300 block of West Main Street, about 11 p.m. Saturday when they became involved in an argument with another group of people. The argument escalated into a physical fight, according to Ventura police.

Several people began striking Marschall, and someone stabbed him in the side, Ventura police said. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he remained Sunday.

Police stopped a vehicle leaving the area and determined that one of the occupants, a 16-year-old Ventura boy, had been involved in the attack.

Police charged the youth with assault with a deadly weapon. He was released into the custody of his parents. An investigation is continuing.
