Using Bicycles

Share

I applaud your editorial (“Zero Emissions,” Sept. 4) urging the development of bike paths to encourage commuters to leave their cars. Another way to reduce traffic and parking congestion is to use bicycles for running neighborhood errands. I’ve been doing that for years for picking up a videotape, dropping off shoes for repair, buying a few items at the bakery, drug, or grocery store and the like. Most people take their cars to carry such items that can easily fit in a box or basket mounted on a bike. Businesses can help by putting up stands to make parking and locking of bikes easier.
