Countywide : Trans Union Wins Credit Report Contract
- Share via
Trans Union Corp. has won a $57,000 contract to provide Orange County with credit-reporting services over the next year, beating out rival TRW, which holds the current contract.
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved the contract on the recommendation of General Services Agency officials, who said Trans Union submitted the lowest bid.
The county uses credit information for a variety of purposes, from attempting to locate parents who haven’t paid child support to checking the financial backgrounds of people applying for low-income housing, said Mike Kolodsiner of the General Services Agency.
According to a county report, Trans Union will charge $1.25 for each credit check and $3 for employment verification reports. TRW proposed charging $1.60 for credit checks and $3.50 for employment data.
