Motorcyclist Who Hit Tree Breaks Neck
FULLERTON —
A 37-year-old woman who lost control of her motorcycle and struck a tree was in critical condition Sunday at UC Irvine Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said.
Kaija Kemppinen was traveling at high speed Saturday about 6:45 p.m. when she hit the curb, slammed into a bottlebrush tree and was thrown from her motorcycle, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
Kemppinen, who was wearing a helmet, suffered a broken neck and head injuries.
