It was another reunion between some former Kings and the current Kings. And is often the pattern, the ex-Kings, now Boston Bruins, prevailed, 3-1, on Tuesday night at the Forum before an announced crowd of 9,725 in the Kings’ exhibition opener.

Steve Kasper, who played part of three seasons with the Kings, was behind the bench as Boston’s head coach. Standing next to him was assistant Cap Raeder, who spent seven seasons in the King organization in a similar role. And in the press box was former King defenseman Tim Watters, now an assistant with the Bruins.

Former Kings also contributed on the ice--Shawn McEachern assisted on the Bruins’ first goal, at 16:19 of the second period. McEachern was traded to Boston in the summer in a four-player deal between the Bruins and Penguins. And the much-traveled Todd Elik scored the Bruins’ second goal.

Rookie King goaltender Jamie Storr played the first two periods, facing 23 shots and giving up two goals. Scoring the Kings’ goal was right wing Rick Tocchet, on the power play at 10:23 of the third period. King left wing Dimitri Khristich suffered a broken nose when he was hit by a puck in the second period.
