A man suspected in a series of sexual assaults from Highland Park to Silver Lake over the past week is in custody, the Los Angeles Police Department reported Wednesday.

Paul Jimenez, whose age and address were not available, was arrested Tuesday morning after a brief car chase that ended when he crashed near Washington Boulevard and Bronson Avenue. After the crash, the suspect fled but was caught a short distance away, according to police.

Jimenez is suspected of kidnaping a woman as she sat in a car in a convenience store lot at Riverside and Fletcher drives at about 5:25 a.m Saturday, said Detective Gary Greubel of the LAPD Northeast Division. The attacker drove the victim to a remote area of Pasadena and raped her, according to Greubel.
