FAMILY ESCAPES BULLETS: Bullets intended for rival gang members in Huntington Park hit their target Tuesday, killing a 17-year-old boy riding in a car. But they also pierced the bedroom wall of a nearby home where a father and three children lay sleeping.

“The house that the bullet went through is not related to the actual shooting, they just happened to live on the street,” said Sgt. William Diers.
Gang members on the street had opened fire with a semiautomatic rifle on a car carrying Juan Carlos Delgado of Huntington Park. Delgado, who police described as a gang member, died a short time later.
Police said the incident, the second fatal gang-related shooting in Huntington Park in the past three weeks, reflects an end-of-the-summer upsurge in gang shootings in the city
