Water District Residency Rules

Share

* A clarification is required regarding the action taken by the Mesa Consolidated Water District Board of Directors on the issue of residency requirements for board members.

The board did pass a resolution that will reinforce that “Directors of the District shall be a resident of the Division of the District that they represent in their capacity as Director.” (“Water Officials Reject Residency Requirement,” Sept. 15)

This resolution will also enable the board to declare a vacancy on the board of directors, presuming “that a permanent change of residence has occurred” if a director moves “outside of the boundaries of that Director’s division and where the Director fails to re-establish a place of residence” in that division within 90 days.
