Man’s Body Found Near Wrecked Car
The body of a Malibu man whose car apparently plunged off a road in the Santa Monica Mountains was discovered Sunday.
The California Highway Patrol had not released the man’s name Sunday night pending notification of his family. Ventura County Senior Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens described the victim as an Asian in his mid-50s.
The condition of the man’s body suggested that the accident that claimed his life occurred between 6 p.m. and midnight Saturday, Stevens said. The CHP first received word of the accident about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
For undetermined reasons, the man’s car went over an asphalt curb on the side of Deer Creek Road about two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway. The car then traveled down a steep hillside, stopping about 300 feet from the road, according to the CHP. The man was thrown through the rear window of the car, Stevens said.
