National Technical Systems’ Quarterly Profit Jumps 61%

National Technical Systems Inc., a Calabasas chain of testing labs, said its profit for the second fiscal quarter that ended July 31 was $288,000, up 61% from $179,000 in the same quarter a year earlier. Revenues for the quarter were $10.9 million, up 19% from $9.13 million in the same quarter last year.

For the first six months of the fiscal year, profit was $302,000, down 17% from $365,000 last year. Revenues for the six-month period were $20.5 million, up from $19.3 million a year ago.

The company said the improved earnings and revenues in its second quarter were in part due to the strong performance of its automotive, defense and nuclear testing services.
