TUSTIN : Woman Sues Man, Says He Stabbed Dog

Share

A Tustin woman has filed a lawsuit in Orange County Superior Court against a man who she alleges stabbed her dog to death on the sidewalk.

Romelia Madrigal, 32, said she was walking her dog in a park near Heritage Way and Myford Road earlier this month when she stopped to talk to some friends. She let go of the leash so that her German shepherd mix, named Bon Bon, could play with the friends’ dog, Madrigal said at the time.

All of a sudden, Bon Bon ran across the street and began playing with two Maltese, according to Madrigal. The Maltese’s owner, who apparently felt threatened by the dog, stabbed Bon Bon with his pocket knife. The dog died at the veterinary clinic, Madrigal said.

The man, who was named only as John Doe in the lawsuit and who has not been named by police, has not been charged with any crime. He told police that Bon Bon was attacking him and his dogs. He went home after the stabbing without reporting the crime and was questioned by police later that day, authorities said.
