Police are looking for robbers who held a restaurant manager at gunpoint while demanding that another employee hand over a bank bag filled with about $800, investigators said Thursday.

About 11 p.m. Wednesday, three men--two of whom were armed with handguns--entered the Tortilla Flats Restaurant in the 1700 block of South Coast Highway after business hours through an unlocked back door, Police Sgt. Lance Ishmael said.

One of the armed men pointed his gun at an employee and ordered him to lead them to an upstairs office, where he took one of two night managers hostage while demanding cash from the other, Ishmael said. The assailants fled the restaurant with about $800.

The restaurant’s employees stayed in the office area and did not see in which direction the men left, investigators said.

No one was injured.
