MISSION VIEJO : Council Meetings to Start Hour Earlier
Hoping to cut down on marathon meetings that often go on past midnight, the City Council will start its sessions an hour earlier. Meetings will now begin at 5 p.m.
“Hopefully, this will prevent us from doing closed sessions in the middle of the meeting,” Councilwoman Susan Withrow said. “We’re trying to get finished earlier and move the agenda along more efficiently.”
The council voted previously to end its meetings promptly at 11 p.m., but they still often stretch past midnight.
The latest time change was inspired by the thick agenda of items after the council’s annual six-week summer break.
