VENTURA : Retarded Citizens Assn. Sets Workshops

Almost 300 people are expected to attend the second day of a conference in Ventura for adults with developmental disabilities.

The conference, which concludes today, is sponsored by the Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties Assn. of Retarded Citizens. This year’s conference, titled “Making Choices for Our Future,” will be held at the Doubletree Hotel.

The attendees participated in a series of workshops Friday and are expected to do the same today.

Registration for today’s events begins at 8:30 a.m. and workshops last until 2 p.m. Titles of some of the remaining workshops are “Get Ready for a Job,” “First Aid” and “Person-Centered Planning.”

The conference is scheduled to close with a group sing-along of the newly written “Advocacy Song” at 2:15 p.m.
