Countywide : Crash Victim’s Father Pleads for Speeder’s ID

On the eve of his daughter’s funeral, the father of a 19-year-old woman killed in a crash caused by a speeding motorist pleaded Thursday for any information that would help authorities apprehend the driver.

Jennifer Twohy was among those riding in a Ford Bronco on the Santa Ana Freeway when it was sideswiped by a speeding car Saturday night. The crash killed Twohy and 21-year-old William Baughn, both of Placentia, and injured four others.

On Thursday, Twohy’s father echoed a plea made by the California Highway Patrol earlier this week for information that could lead to the arrest of the driver believed to have caused the accident.

“The whole freeway came to a stop and we’re told that a lot of people got out of their cars,” said Larry Siedentop. “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen something.”

The accident occurred about 7:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Santa Ana Freeway just south of Alton Parkway.

A dark blue Mercury Capri hatchback, early 1980s model, clipped the Bronco while trying to keep pace with a black 1994 Honda Civic that was speeding in the fast lane.

CHP Officer George Luce said Thursday that officials have been receiving dozens of calls and are following up several leads.

But so far they are not close to making arrests.

“We have yet to get anything solid,” Luce said.

Anyone with information about the accident should call the CHP at (714) 567-7187.

Services for Jennifer Twohy will be at 2 p.m. today at Rose Drive Friends Church, 4221 Rose Drive, in Yorba Linda.

Burial will take place at Loma Vista Memorial Park, 701 E. Bastanchury Road, in Fullerton.
