Candidates running for the City Council in the Nov. 7 recall election will speak at a forum at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 5865 Katella Ave.
The event is free and open to the public. The moderator will be Mark Petracca, a political science professor at UC Irvine.
The special election asks city voters whether three council members should be ousted from office. The three are Mayor Cecilia L. Age, Councilwoman Gail H. Kerry and Councilman Walter K. Bowman.
A citizens' group launched the recall movement against them because of their vote Sept. 26, 1994, for a controversial carpet-distribution warehouse. Seven candidates are vying for the council positions.
The two candidates for Kerry's seat are Tim Keenan and Jerry Sharber, both business owners. The two seeking Age's seat are Regan Smith, a homemaker and businesswoman, and Burt Cheifer, a sales representative.
Running for Bowman's seat are Paula English, a business owner; Lynda Lacayo, a reporter and businesswoman, and K. Gina Restivo, an attorney and accountant.
